Payroll Analyst Senior

General Summary

Researches, plans, designs, implements and maintains the integrity of databases for Payroll, Time Accruals and Kronos. Provides technical support to HR operations for Payroll, Time Accrual and Kronos. Acts as a liaison with information systems staff for Payroll, Time Accrual, Compensation and Kronos. Collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes for Payroll, Time Accrual, Compensation and Kronos. Has accountability for the accuracy of payroll checks, tax calculations, deductions, pay codes and general maintenance of the payroll and timekeeping systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Using developed data structure modeling skills, researches and develops reports, files, spreadsheets, documents, analytical tools and automated solutions and processes.
  • Researches, plans, designs, implements and maintains the integrity of the databases for Payroll, Time Accruals and Kronos.
  • Collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes for Payroll, Time Accrual, Compensation and Kronos. Communicates actively with HR to review cross departmental impacts and reconcile data sharing.
  • Provides technical support to HR operations for Payroll, Time Accrual and Kronos. Acts as a liaison with information systems staff for Payroll, Time Accrual, Compensation and Kronos.
  • Provides decision making support for Payroll, Time Accrual and Kronos.
  • Compiles data for and prepares regularly scheduled or special reports, analyses and statements for Payroll, Time Accrual and Kronos.
  • Is the first point of contact for the payroll analyst for issues they are unable to resolve. Escalate to Payroll Manager if needed. Provides payroll staff training for Payroll, Time Accrual and Kronos.
  • Leads the PTO Trade-In program when approved by Senior Leadership.
  • Serves as the functional lead for all Payroll, Time Accrual, Kronos and BSI upgrades, patches, testing, etc.
  • Is accountable for the accuracy of payroll checks, tax calculations, deductions, pay codes and general maintenance of the payroll and timekeeping systems.
  • Assists the Payroll Manager with balancing the taxes after each payroll, and ensures that W-2 forms are computed and disbursed appropriately at year end.
  • Assists the Payroll Manager with monitoring implementation of legal issues, coordination of the application of rules and regulations regarding pay and ensures compliance with federal, state and local tax rules.
  • Understands how WellSpan pay processes and policies work in conjunction with external regulations and with other HR and Finance related processes. Takes the initiative to ensure that these processes work appropriately together and are not creating adverse results for one or another system.
  • As a senior member of the Payroll team, educates the payroll analyst, payroll leads and payroll specialist team members in how to: verify time records, troubleshoot errors, critically reviews and analyzes current payroll, working with timekeepers and managers/supervisors to ensure accurate records and payroll processing, calculate special adjustments, rates, tax deductions, benefits and other deductions for special, unusual or corrected payroll runs, produce voluntary and involuntary deduction reports, validate the payroll process during regular and off pay week processing and help employees to understand their payroll and deduction information.

  • Provides HRIS, Benefit and Payroll operation back-up/support.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Degree Required

Work Experience:

  • 10+ years Human Resources, database management, or payroll processing experience. Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with ability to learn new computer applications.
  • Strong data structure modeling and data/database management skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Crystal Reports, Microsoft Excel, Access, Word and other data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Strong understanding of human resources information systems.
  • Knowledge of, and experience working with LAWSON HRIS and Kronos preferred.
  • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision with all levels of staff and management to develop solutions to human resources issues.
  • Able to prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines.
