Position Function: Under the direction of a Clinical Manager assists with assessing, planning, implementing Speech Therapy to patients. Maintains the operational aspects of the therapy unit in collaboration with the Clinical Manager. Further contributes to the Physical Medicine Department, Hospital and the American Speech & Hearing Association through support of philosophy, objectives, educational and research efforts. Is responsible for the supervision of subordinate staff, students and volunteers as delegated by department administrative personnel. May be required to travel between clinical sites to assist in provision of care.

4. patient response, relevant communication, patient education, plan of care revisions, update of goals, and patient progress.
5. Able to complete an outpatient, acute care and rehab evaluation and establish appropriate goals and treatment plan.
6. Initiates a treatment plan and advances the plan according to the patient response; implements all treatments including therapeutic agents, augmentative communication devices and population specific approaches with a high level of technical skill.
7. Demonstrates competence with use of prosthetics and assistive devices specific for functional communications.
8. Demonstrates competency with monitoring vital signs and managing of patients with IV tubes, NG tubes, PEG lines and supplemental oxygen.
9. Identifies the need to have the physician reassess the patient in a timely manner.
10. Serves as an effective educator and mentor to patients, families, other staff, clinical students and the community.
11. Overlaps the various elements of treatment to include a holistic approach that maintains the highest levels of professional morals and ethics; compassion, knowledge and clinical reasoning.
12. Identifies emergency situations and responds appropriately.
13. Proficiently assesses patient needs from pediatrics through geriatrics and recommends appropriate environmental changes for respective age related population.
14. Proficient knowledge and application of standardized tests.
15. Demonstrates proficient clinical application of cognitive rehab to include task analysis and communication.
Qualifications and Standards
Education: Graduate of an accredited program with a Masters Degree in Speech Therapy.
Experience: Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required.
Certifications/Licensure: Licensed as a Speech Therapist in Pennsylvania or eligible for licensure in Speech Therapy. CPR certification required. Has Clinical Certification or eligible for same.
