Retirement Benefits Specialist-Total Rewards-Days

Location: WellSpan Health, York, PA
Schedule: Full Time

Full time (80 hours bi-weekly)

Day Shift: 8a-4:30p

Remote opportunity but must be available for occasional onsite meetings

General Summary

Provides customer service and performs a variety of functions related to the administration of the employee retirement benefits programs. Administers, facilitates, and explains different retiree benefit programs to System employees.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures retirement plans are administered in accordance with organization guidelines, plan documents and government regulations.
  • Researches team member retirement plan eligibility and communicates retirement benefits to team members to include eligibility for additional retiree benefits.
  • Reconciles weekly payroll contribution from third party administrator system for the Retirement Savings Plan, ensuring accuracy and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Instructs team members on the retirement process, including how to process retirement within HR/Payroll system, providing contact information for third party administrators and acts as a resource for other benefit related questions upon retirement.
  • Maintains retiree records within HR/Payroll system related to retiree life insurance benefits.
  • Collaborates with third party administrator for the Retirement Savings plan on weekly outstanding items and resolving issues.
  • Processes and reviews weekly reports to update team member eligibility for employer provided retirement contributions.
  • Researches and identify retirement contribution errors and calculate corrections, communicating directly with Payroll any bi-weekly updates.
  • Provides professional daily customer service to team members regarding retirement and related benefits questions, maintaining response time as established by department Best Practices.
  • Assists with annual audit of Retirement Plans with external auditing firm including the collection of HR data.
  • Provides Define Pension Benefit Vendor information bi-annually for finance reports.
  • Processes monthly invoices related to Retirement.
  • Works collaboratively with other WellSpan departments related to the collection of data and research of team member employment history.

Common Expectations:

  • Maintains retirement benefits records and documents necessary for implementing various benefit coverage.
  • Remains knowledgeable in compliance issues including SPD and other notice and communication requirements and ERISA compliance and timing issues. Develops and maintains compliance schedules for various areas of benefits.
  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment and safety standards.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
  • Provides back-up telephone coverage for other support staff, routing calls appropriately or taking clear messages.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Degree Required

Work Experience:

  • 3 years Experience in retirement plan or pension plan administration. Required
  • Experience with Oracle HCM platform. Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills with ability to learn new computer applications.
