General Summary
Performs invasive radiographic procedures at an advanced skills level.
Essential Functions:
Performs interventional vascular procedures.
Under the direct supervision of the physician, administers intravenous contrast media. Recognizes complications (e.g., contrast reaction) and treats appropriately.
Scrubs with physician as required.
Maintains aseptic and sterile technique in the laboratory and during patient studies.
Responsible for inventory control and ordering supplies.
Oversees the work of other personnel by training, allocating and monitoring work. Performs work of a similar nature.
Works with management team to ensure accurate exam coding and billing.
Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
Positions and transfers patients comfortably.
Immobilizes patients as necessary and practices radiation safety procedures.
Selects and operates equipment as needed to perform required exams.
Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
Performs the duties of Radiographer as needed.
Common Expectations:
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
Supervises, assists and evaluates students in the clinical education setting.
Develops film through automatic processing.
Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas and/or patient rooms.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED Required
Work Experience:
5 years Relevant experience. Required
Licenses:
Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and
Registered Technologist-Radiography - ARRT Upon Hire Required and
Registered Technologist-Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology - ARRT Upon Hire Required or
Registered Technologist-Vascular Interventional Radiology - ARRT Upon Hire Required or
Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist Upon Hire Required or
Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist Upon Hire Required
Courses and Training:
Accredited program in radiologic technology and training in special procedures. Upon Hire Required
