After School Program Coordinator - Lancaster

Location: WellSpan Philhaven, Lancaster, PA
Schedule: Full Time

Full-time, Day/Eve

40 hrs/week

Monday through Friday 12pm-8pm and summer hours Monday through Friday 9am-5pm

General Summary

Oversees day-to-day therapeutic and program activities of the child and adolescent after-school program. Ensures program structure and clinical development by providing patients in the program with recreational, educational, vocational, and therapeutic activities and developing programming and milieu management. Assumes administrative responsibilities in the absence of the Program Manager for After-School as directed by the Program Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in monitoring admissions to ensure clinical appropriateness and efficient provision of services.
  • Works in the milieu modeling clinical interventions, ensuring program structure, monitoring therapeutic groups, providing on-going feedback and support to staff, and being available for 1:1 crisis support.
  • Responsible for ongoing staff and program development ensuring that structures are in place that implement evidence based and best practice standards.
  • Evaluates patients' clinical progression and aftercare planning and appropriateness for continued treatment or discharge.
  • Facilitates coordination of treatment team, collaboration of community agencies and investigates the availability of alternative community resources.
  • Refines and evaluates program processes and ensures the promotion of program services.
  • Implements policies and procedures and maintains all safety and accrediting agency Standards.
  • Orients new personnel, as directed by Program Manager.
  • Assists with performance improvement issues and program development assignments as directed by the Program Manager.
  • Collaborates daily with Program Manager.
  • Responsible for nightly programing structure, schedule, staffing and resources.
  • Plans and implements ongoing parent communication and program involvement.
  • Coordinates program specials and rewards to motivate clients.
  • Coordinates daily medication schedule for program clients.
  • Maintains awareness of program budget and effectively schedule staff and monitor staff to achieve budget margins.
  • Provides services as governed by individual treatment plans.
  • Develops and maintains working relationship with program patients, families, external providers, and other hospital dept.
  • Maintains awareness of significant patient history, present status, and specific concerns which may exist.
  • Develops and leads assigned activities according to program schedule and is available to assist with van runs.
  • Effectively utilizes leadership/teaching/counseling techniques to gain program patients' participation.
  • Demonstrates understanding of special needs and ability to care for children and adolescents.
  • Completes and provides accurate program documentation and adequate feedback for effective treatment.
  • Recognizes when unsafe or non-therapeutic conditions are developing or exist and maintains communication with team members.

Common Expectations:

  • Receives ongoing training and supervision by an RN to maintain qualifications.
  • Demonstrates leadership through collaboration with all team members, maintaining positive solution-focused communication, taking initiative, leading by example, open and consistent communication, understanding of diagnosis and clinical interventions, and investment in the development of growth of staff and the program.
  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Consults and facilitates good working relationships with program staff.
  • Exhibits leadership and high levels of commitment to the organization.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to serve on committees and task forces as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Degree Required

Work Experience:

  • 1 year Experience in children's behavioral healthcare. Required and
  • 1 year Experience in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or related field in Behavioral Health Care. Required

Driver's License Statement:

Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence. Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.

Courses and Training:

  • ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Training (40 hours) within 60 days Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and ability appropriate to care for children and adolescents with special emotional/mental health needs and manifesting emotional/behavioral problems.
  • Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills.
  • Analytical and therapeutic abilities.
  • Physical prowess to assist in behavioral emergencies.
  • Visual and hearing abilities.
