Recovery Specialist - Part-time - Chambersburg

Location: WellSpan Philhaven, Chambersburg, PA
Schedule: Full Time

General Summary

Contributes in a peer support capacity to facilitate recovery and enhance wellness by sharing his/her personal/practical experience and first-hand knowledge to the team and clients. Serves as a role model for recovery for both staff and peers and partners with peers in developing recovery tools and building support networks.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Assists designated peers with rehabilitative social support, advocacy, educational and vocational mentoring and self-maintenance
  • Provides information on accessing community resources.
  • Assists in transportation for peers to necessary appointments, support and outreach.
  • Provides reminder calls to designated peers to offer reminders and verbal supports in relation to their recovery.
  • At the request of the peer, assists family members in obtaining support resources, as well as educational information regarding recovery tools.
  • Provides supports to individuals in recovery in the community when needed.
  • Provides marketing and trainings within the community as needed.
  • Partners with peers to create and attain goals on the Individual Recovery Plan.
  • Completes necessary documentation for each peer encounter (i.e. service activity, contact sheets, etc) within 48 hours of encounter.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork during the intake, and updates paperwork as needed.
  • Completes monthly log of services provided.
  • Meets with team on a bi-weekly basis for staff meeting and peer reviews.
  • Assists Peers with creating an Individual Recovery Plan. Initial IRP must be completed within 30 days of first face to face visit. A six month review from the date of the most current IRP will be required for continuation of services.
  • Reviews Individual Recovery Plan with peers every 6 month or earlier as needed.
  • Acts as a liaison with other community agencies/groups, funding sources, and businesses that relate to the services provided to peers.
  • Acquires knowledge or resources in assigned county/counites while maintaining an excellent working relationship with all providers.
  • Provides onsite visits to other community agencies in order to educate them about the peer services available.
  • Communicates on an as needed basis with providers regarding issues relevant to continuity of care.
  • Provides after hours telephone support to enrolled peers as assigned.

  • Meets with supervisor for individual supervision on a weekly basis.
  • Models coping techniques and self-help strategies.
  • Encourages and provides support for peers to advocate for themselves.
  • Reinforces hope and the potential for recovery to peers and others.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Associates Degree As a Medical Assistant or related health field. Preferred

Work Experience:

  • 1 year Of paid or volunteer experience within a three year period. Required and
  • A self-identified recovering consumer. Required and
  • Experience in navigating the recovery system (i.e. crisis services, vocational rehabilitation, recreational activities, and human services, etc.). Required and
  • A history of coping with own substance use disorder issues and maintenance of own recovery. Required and
  • Medical Assistance or related health field experience. Required

Licenses:

  • Certified Recovery Specialist Upon Hire Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills including email, Word, and internet.
  • Knowledge of and ability in the care and support of individuals in a specific age group.
