Palliative Care Consulting Physician

General Summary

Provides palliative care professional consultation services for patients and mentors and models palliative care principles for clinical staff. Mentors residents, students, fellows and medical staff in palliative care and provides teaching, as needed.

WellSpan is currently seeking a full-time Palliative Care physician. The successful candidate will help staff the clinic and York Hospital.

Position Highlights:

  • WellSpan York Hospital was recently named a Top 50 Teaching Hospital in the US
  • Candidates with fellowship training in Hospice & Palliative Care are preferred
  • Monday - Friday schedule will consist of four (4) 10-hour days
  • No Weekends and No Call
  • Large referral base of WMG primary care and specialty providers
  • Team of 7 providers
  • Multidisciplinary team strives to avoid hospital admissions during last months of life
  • Excellent support from WMG leadership and an experienced Practice Manager

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required or
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required

Licenses:

  • Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or
  • Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice or Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice or Internal Medicine. Upon Hire Required and
  • Hospice and Palliative Care Certification through the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or if a DO, through the Osteopathic Board process. Upon Hire Required and
  • Completion of a Family Practice or Internal Medicine residency. Upon Hire Required and
  • Must qualify and be a member of the Medical Staff of the Hospital. Upon Hire Required and
  • Harvard Palliative Care Training. Upon Hire Required and
  • Proof of Added Competency in Palliative Care (e.g., Decisions Near the End of Life Faculty, EPEC faculty, CMEs related to Palliative Care/End of Life Care, other). Upon Hire Required
  • Minimum of 15 CME/1 year in Palliative Care. Upon Hire Required
