Manager-Public Safety Training and Workplace Violence Investigations

General Summary

Oversees a team of Public Safety Learning and Development Coordinators while managing day-to-day monitoring of workplace violence events and investigations across the WellSpan system. Coordinates meetings with the security, emergency management, and workplace violence committees to align the system workplace violence policies, procedures, reporting and initiatives. Performs diversified and confidential workplace violence investigations and training related duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees the work of public safety learning and development coordinators, acting as a mentor and providing guidance and situational resolutions.
  • Conducts investigations as directed and prepares incident reports when applicable. Collaborates with federal, state and municipal agencies relative to workplace violence safety and/or public safety investigations.
  • Directs and coordinates public safety workplace violence initiatives across WellSpan to ensure the objectives are achieved.
  • Constant navigation and monitoring of the public safety reporting system (and other applicable systems) to ensure workplace violence events are being properly investigated in a timely fashion.
  • Generates public safety reports, analyzes data, and communicates findings to relevant parties such as on-site leadership, executive leadership, owners, etc.
  • Coordinates training for public safety personnel across the system to ensure each officer is capable of providing consistent and standard security response for our employees, patients and visitors.
  • Performs standard supervisory functions including hiring staff, assigning work, and training, providing feedback, disciplining staff, developing staff, and terminating staff.
  • Identifies required and needed training and communicates new information and processes to the public safety team.
  • Serves as the lead public safety team members on workplace violence investigations, tracking and suggested resolutions.
  • Maintains clear and consistent public safety training records for all public safety personnel.
  • Provides training for team members on public safety trainings such as taser, oc, new officer orientation, de-escalation, active shooter, etc. as needed.
  • Conducts facility audits to assess training needs, deficiencies and areas of improvement, documenting findings and initiating corrective action as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Degree Criminal Justice, Security Management, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Criminology, Public Safety Administration, Business Administration Required
  • Masters Degree Criminal Justice, Security Management, Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Criminology, Public Safety Administration, Business Administration Preferred

Work Experience:

  • 5 years Training and/or Investigations Required

Driver's License Statement:

Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence. Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills and Microsoft applications (Excel and Word).
  • Excellent interpersonal/communications skills.
  • Transcription skills.
