Hours: Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 11:00pm
Rotation: Holiday / Optional on-call

General Summary

Performs routine and MRI specialized advanced skill level procedures. Performs procedures to produce magnetic resonance (MR) images of designated anatomical areas according to established practices and procedures. Performs duties as on call technologist, having the ability to perform MRI exams on all scanners within the organization. Trains new staff. Passed the MRI advanced level specialty exam as per ARRT.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs MR imaging studies; obtains patient history; explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns.
  • Functions at a specialized advanced level performing a minimum of two (2) advanced skills specialty exams (breast biopsy, prostate biopsy, cardiac imaging, spectroscopy) and/or able to perform MRI exams on all scanners within the organization.
  • Under the direct supervision of the physician, administers intravenous contrast media. Recognizes complications (e.g., contrast reaction) and treats appropriately.
  • Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
  • Positions and transfers patients comfortably.
  • Immobilizes patients as necessary and practices MRI safety procedures.
  • Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.

Common Expectations:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • 4 years Required

Licenses:

  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and
  • Registered Technologist-Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - ARRT Upon Hire Required or
  • Certified MRI Technologist - ARMRIT Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Accredited program in radiologic technology and training in MRI procedures; has passed the MR advanced level specialty exam as per ARRT. Upon Hire Required
