Laboratory Support Technician Lead - Days

Location: York Hospital, York, PA
Schedule: Full Time

Full Time (80 hours/pay period)

Days

M-F between 6am and 4pm, rotating weekends and holidays

General Summary

Serves primarily as a lead support technician, with oversight of laboratory client services daily operations to support laboratory operations. May work any part of a 24-hour period. Routinely obtains and disseminates information. May be required to accept on-call responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily operations of the laboratory client services department.
  • Assists in selecting, training, and orienting staff. Contributes to staff evaluations.
  • Prepares work schedules and makes recommendations for personnel actions, when necessary.
  • May document competency of employees and provide feedback to manager regarding progress.
  • Performs routine client services duties; answers phones, manages inventory, works Epic work lists and queues; enters lab orders.
  • Performs a variety of duties at progressively greater skill levels under varying degrees of supervision.
  • Schedules meetings, takes minutes, orders supplies, and assists with event planning and execution, when necessary.
  • Interacts with vendors and customers to receive or disseminate information, as necessary.
  • Develops and reviews procedures in accordance with established laboratory practice.
  • Enters or retrieves data from established computer files, monitors metrics relevant to the department.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:

  • 4 years Relevant experience. Required

Courses and Training:

  • Medical terminology. Upon Hire Preferred and
  • Hospital billing and coding. Upon Hire Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and computer skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
