General Summary

Manages the overall operation and strategic planning of the Imaging Department. Directs the development, expansion and operation of imaging programs and strategies in the county. Responsible for the performance of these services and departments through the management of employees, identification of and response to changing market conditions, and by ensuring compliance with accrediting and regulatory requirements. Effectively manages the capital, financial and human resources of the departments and develops and implements appropriate plans, goals, budgets and policies to ensure alignment with the market strategy. Plans and directs the delivery of quality patient care and related services. Responsible for implementing the strategic vision and goals for these services, including a focus on consumerism goals of access, and convenience. Directs services in the inpatient hospital environment, outpatient settings and directly supervises operations manager of imaging services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with system & hospital leadership to develop and support strategy and strategic initiatives which advance WellSpan's Strategic Plan.
  • Oversees the successful execution of imaging-based strategic plans and vision within the hospital and ensures they align and reflect the strategic goals of the larger organization.
  • In collaboration with other departments and leaders, develops and implements strategies which will insure achievement of entity volume, revenue, access, and patient experience goals.
  • Demonstrates responsible FTE management.
  • Seeks and analyzes data which can be used to track improvements in all levels of care in imaging operations and care delivery. Analyzes trends and establish operating plans accordingly.
  • Oversees and ensures the continual development and improvement of clinical competencies within the department.
  • Understands and actively supports the organization's goals for patient-centered care. Acts as an employee role model for customer service and positive attitude.
  • Works collaboratively with entity leadership teams and interacts effectively with internal and external constituents to gather input for improving the delivery of care.
  • Identifies and analyzes trends in the business climate in the service area. Develops strategies to position the facilities to respond to the needs of the local community we serve.
  • Works with the entity leadership teams to provide current information on regulatory and accreditation standards, and oversees development of action plans designed to maintain an atmosphere of regulatory readiness at all times.

Common Expectations:

  • Manages employees through subordinates, usually other managers. Establishes performance goals, allocates resources and assesses policies for direct subordinates. Provides orientation, training, and continuing education of employees in area(s) of responsibility.
  • Represents the System on internal committees and external professional/civic service organizations. Meets with members of the community to promote good community relations
  • Initiates and/or maintains organization wide policies and procedures to facilitate the kind and type of organization needed to accomplish the System's aims, objectives and programs, and which guide and support the provision of System services.
  • Participates in strategic planning, goal setting, budget preparation and analysis, and program development in collaboration with managers, nursing personnel, physicians, and others as appropriate.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
  • Directs and resources all supervised departments in planning, problem solving and decision making. Encourages integration of efforts and monitors progress in meeting goals and budgets.
  • Directs the development, implementation and monitoring of a strategic plan/action plans for programs and services supervised.
  • Shares organizational administrative on-call responsibilities.
  • Works with departmental leaders and the Controller to develop a budget for each service or program
  • Works with the departmental leaders to allocate resources that achieve budgeted financial targets while maintaining high quality of patient care.
  • Promotes and documents PI and excellence initiatives throughout the organization with applicable standards and regulations serving as minimum requirements.
  • Works to understand and implement Lean Daily Management concepts and practices in all aspect of management and leadership.
  • Promotes the continued growth of managers and staff and positive morale among employees.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelors Degree Required

Work Experience:

  • 5 years Experience in Health Administration, Business Administration, or Planning. Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong problem solving, time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment with both internal employees and external consultants and organizations.
