CT Technologist - Computer Tomography CT - Days

Location: Gettysburg Hospital, Gettysburg, PA
Schedule: Full Time

Full Time (80 Hours/Biweekly)

Shift: Day

Two 12 hour shifts (7a-7p) and two 8 hour shifts (7:30a-4p) shifts per week

Rotating Weekends, Holidays and Call

General Summary

Performs all CT radiologic procedures at an advanced skills level. Performs procedures to produce computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of designated anatomical areas according to established practices and procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs all CT Scan studies; obtains patient history, explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns. Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department. EHR proficiency Under the direct supervision of the physician, administers intravenous contrast media. Recognizes complications (e.g., contrast reaction) and treats appropriately.
  • Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
  • Positions and transfers patients comfortably, Immobilizes patients as necessary and practices radiation safety procedures.
  • Preforms all basic to advanced CT examinations, reconstructions and Cardiovascular CT imaging.
  • Independent workstation proficiency
  • Preceptor/Trainer with students and/or new technicians/technologists as needed.
  • If necessary, will take call to meet the needs of the department. On call requirements are defined separately by each hospital.
  • Survey Readiness preparation/teaching, policy, and procedure training.
  • 4C/Standard Work assistance
  • Equipment knowledge and trouble shooting
  • Mentor for CT Technician, CT Tech I, and CT Tech II
  • Delegation skills, provides leadership role in absence of Lead Tech, Interdepartmental Involvement/assignments.

Common Expectations:

  • Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Proficient contrast administration policy knowledge.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
  • Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times.
  • Appropriately segments and archives images and exams to the PACS archive.
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas and/or patient rooms.
  • Attends meetings as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Associates Degree Required

Work Experience:

  • 4 years Progressive responsibility in a diagnostic imaging department. Required and
  • Completed CT Tech II skill sets at a WellSpan facility. Required

Licenses:

  • Registered Technologist-Computed Tomography - ARRT Upon Hire Required or
  • Certified in Computed Tomography - NMTCB Upon Hire Required and
  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Accredited program in radiologic technology and training in computer tomography procedures. Upon Hire Required
